Bernd Wiesberger, who played in the LIV Golf League for many years, was reinstated to the DP World Tour on Thursday.
Wiesberger is an eight-time DP World Tour champion. He joined the breakaway circuit 2022, but his contract for 2024 was terminated after a bad season in 2018. He was granted membership to the DP World Tour after he applied.
The statement stated that Wiesberger’s membership ceased and he had been removed from the Race to Dubai after he did not comply with the Tour’s minimum counting events regulation for the season 2023, as he only played in two counting tournaments – the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, and the Hero Dubai Desert Classic.
He has expressed a desire to play a complete DP World Tour schedule for 2024. He has also fulfilled all sanctions imposed on him, both in terms of financial penalties and tournament suspensions.
The Chief Executive of DP World Tour, Keith Pelley, has granted his reinstatement request in accordance with procedure outlined in the Members’ Regulations.
Wiesberger claimed that he had never resigned from the DP World Tour on X, a social media website formerly known by the name Twitter.
