STEVENS POINT (Wisconsin) – Bernhard Langer is still a serious contender for major golf titles but he realizes that time is short.
This week, the U.S. Senior Open will be held at SentryWorld Golf Course. Langer, 65, has won 11 major senior titles. He is now the leader of that category after winning his Senior PGA Championship in 2017.
The World Golf Hall of Famer hasn’t been able to win a major tournament since the 2019 Senior Open in England at Royal Lytham & St. Annes Golf Club. He won the U.S. Senior Open only once in 2010,
“I’m working on it.” Langer replied Tuesday that he was working on it. When I first came to the US, I was hoping to win tournaments and majors. I have been fortunate enough to achieve this. There’s always more to be done.”

Langer won the Chubb Classic at Naples, Florida in February, his 45th victory on the Champions Tour, tying Hale Irwin’s record. Langer won seven events in 2017, but he hasn’t been able to win more than two in any season since.
He acknowledges that his competitors are hitting the ball further than him, and it makes it difficult to compete. But he believes he can still do so.
He said, “I know that I must play to my best ability to have any chance of winning. But I am confident I can do it.”
He joked that he thought there were about 100 guys who had a chance of beating him this week out of the 156.
Bernhard Langer is the winner of 11 major championships in the Champions Tour, and 45 victories on the Senior Circuit.
