Peter Kuchar is the father of Matt Kuchar. He was in the bag of his son and saw all 59 shots Bernhard Kuchar and his son Jason made at the PNC Championship on Sunday.
“Boy did they put on an amazing show.” “Holy moley.”
Langer has put on a show over the years. At 66, it’s just getting better. Bernard and Jason played the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in rainy, windy conditions for over two hours on Sunday before they managed to make anything other than a par.
They had already surpassed Kuchar and his son Cameron, who started the day three shots ahead of the field. By then — their first par was No. 8 — they overtook Kuchar and Cameron, who had started the day with three shots in front of the field and never lost the leading position.
After birdies at five of the six holes, starting with No. 1, Langer’s record-tying PNC Championship was virtually assured. 9. Langer, despite cooling off at the end, finished at 25-under and tied Raymond Floyd who won five out of the seven first events that began in 1995.
Langer won his 46th PGA Tour Champions title in the same year.

Langer is the oldest winner of a PNC. He played this 36-hole event with his four children. Jason is the youngest of Vikki and Langer’s four children. Jason has now passed his brother Stefan with his third victory as dad’s partners.
Jason is also the youngest winner of the tournament in its history. He won with his father in 2014, when he was 14 years old.
Jason commented, “It is always nice to be able to beat my older brother.” The good thing was that he won the competition as the youngest because he could never get it back. “This one is nice too.”

Jason graduated last year from The Wharton Business School, where he studied Economics & Finance. He played golf at Penn as a senior and averaged 76.8 in 12 events.
Jason has played less golf than ever since he started playing. It’s easy to drive a golf cart on Broadway at rush hour when he gets out of the house, which happens about twice a week, as long as there is no snow or ice.
Jason doesn’t own a vehicle and must take Uber or the train to transport his luggage from Manhattan to Wykagyl Country Club, in New Rochelle.
He said, “It takes a full day to go to a course.”
Dad was asked whether he had ever used a train while playing golf. He went back to his teenage years as a professional golfer.
He said, “I was too old to rent a vehicle when I joined the Tour. I traveled by train, bus, my own car and sometimes even by plane with my suitcase, golf bag or shag bag.” “Those were good old days. No courtesy cars or anything.”
Bernhard acknowledged that he wouldn’t have held the Willie Park Trophy – a championship belt given to the winning team – without Jason.
Bernhard stated, “I would not have won without him. He made more putts that I ever could.” It was unbelievable. It was incredible to watch him putt. If it misses, I’m to blame because I misread my green. He would have probably made all of them if he had not misread the green.
The team was only two shots away from the record, despite wind and rain that affected play on both days.
Langer has no intention of slowing down on or off the course. Bernhard and Vikki are leaving this week for Germany where they will “put away the clubs and bring out skiis” and spend their holidays.
In a year he will defend his PNC title on the PGA senior circuit.
What’s left to do for Bernhard? What about playing for long enough at the PNC to play with his grandson?
The oldest grandchild of the Langers is 3 years old.
