GolfWRX believes that the best golf hybrid is the one that allows you to score as well as save shots.
We have seen an increase in hybrid options from all manufacturers, with models that are designed to suit golfers of all skill levels. Some even offer models down to 8-iron replacement lofts.
The hybrids use new technology and manufacturing methods that allow golf balls to be launched higher, faster and further, while still offering forgiveness. It is now easier than ever for you to find the perfect one that suits your swing and fits in your set.
However, it is best to have a professional fitter use a launch monitor to help you find the right hybrid for you. It’s difficult because not everyone has easy access to launch monitors and fitters. GolfWRX does a lot of the legwork for them. We want you to have the information and tools to find the best hybrid for you.

Best hybrid in 2023: The categories
Our 2023 best hybrids list has been broken into two categories.
-
The best hybrid for golfers looking for forgiveness
-
The best hybrid for golfers looking for versatility
We chose this format because everyone, regardless of their age, handicap or gender, fits into one of the two “want” categories. Many golfers consider forgiveness the most important factor in selecting hybrids for their bag.
Before we began building the survey we reached out to our trusted fitters for advice on how they sort the various hybrid clubs available to golfers. The top-ranked options were forgiveness and versatility.
The most forgiving hybrids in 2023
Ping G430
Carbonfly Wrap is a lightweight composite crown that Ping created for all G430 fairway woods. This wrap positions the CG closer towards the face line to increase ball speed and allows for longer carries. The skirt’s lightweight composite crown is integrated into the toe and heel sections of the skirt. This allows for weight savings of 10g, which can be reallocated to lower the CG and increase ball speeds.

Titleist TSR1
The new TSR1 hybrids from Titleist are larger and more “wood-like”, to aid golfers in finding greater speed and forgiveness. To increase speed, they are 0.5 inches longer that standard.
You can find more information in our launch piece.
Callaway Paradym X
Paradym X is for golfers who want a full-sized, wood-shaped hybrid with forgiveness and versatility. Callaway increased the center of gravity by incorporating high-density, tungsten. This results in lower spin and greater ball speed. A.I. Jailbreak with Batwing Technology is designed to increase stiffness around the perimeter and allow the face to move at high speeds.

TaylorMade Stealth 2 HD
Stealth Rescue’s new carbon crown construction allows 7 grams of weight to be relocated. This has been done lower in the head to improve CG design and facilitate launch, forgiveness, and impact stability. Stealth 2 HD has a deeper profile and draw bias.

Callaway Great Big Bertha
Callaway engineers used a titanium body and face in their Great Big Bertha hybrids. This resulted in 100g of discretionary weight savings. This weight was then distributed in the design to improve ball speed, increase forgiveness, and promote easy launch.
