Bobbi Stricker moves closer to her LPGA dream with father Steve as her caddie at Stage II qualifying

Nov, 2022

Bobbi Stricker would love to be a member of the LPGA. Her golf journey has been about getting better. Sticker was a tennis player in high school, but she didn’t begin playing competitive golf until college. Sticker said that every step she took in golf has been a “dream come real.” She’s now starting to speak loudly about the big ones as she ticks off the goals she feels deep in her soul.

She said, “I believe that they must be heard in the world.” You will start to believe them if you say them loudly.

Stricker will be taking a significant step towards achieving her big dream this week by participating in Stage II at LPGA Qualifying School. Steve, her father, is a 12-time winner of the PGA Tour, and was the winning captain for the U.S. team at the 2021 Ryder Cup in Whistling Straits.

Steve, 55, holds 11 titles on the PGA Tour Champions. He also has four this season.

After Hurricane Ian had caused extensive damage in the area, LPGA officials had to change Stage II’s October date in Venice, Florida. The 72-hole stroke play event will see 178 players tee off at Plantation Golf and Country Club, on the Bobcat and Panther golf courses. Due to daylight concerns, there is no cut and all players will be competing in foursomes. There are 36 amateurs in the field, including Holly Halim (16 years old) from Indonesia.

The LPGA Q-Series will be held in Alabama in the first two weeks of December. Everybody in Venice, Florida will be eligible for minimum Epson Tour status.

Bobbi was a caddie for Mario Tiziani’s uncle at the PGA Tour Champions Qualifying Tournament in December. Even for someone who has played golf all her life, the front row seat was eye-opening.

She said, “I see and have always seen my life, really just one way to do things.” “What my father does makes sense and works well, but it’s been great to see if there is a better way and realize that everyone is unique and can do what suits them.”

Bobbi says that the whole family is very competitive. Bobbi and Izzi, her younger sister and high school junior, have met their parents for a match. Nicki, their mother, was a Wisconsin golfer. Sometimes Izzi and her father take on Bobbi or mom.

Bobbi said, “The game keeps our family together.” “We travel with (dad), and we practice with him.”

One year ago at Stage I, Bobbi, an overworked woman, was intimidated at the scene at Mission Hills Country Club. As a freshman, she walked on Wisconsin’s first golf team. Her first goal was to break 80 every day and be able to travel with the team.

A more experienced Bobbi felt a deep sense of calmness throughout Stage I this year. To finish seventh in the Dinah Shore Tournament Course, she scored a 69 and was able to easily advance.

Bobbi said, “It was the first moment in my entire golfing career when I was completely in control of all things golf-gamewise.” “My spiritual journey aligned perfectly with my golf.”

Bobbi stated that she didn’t think of herself as perfectionist until recently. Like her father, she’s a hard worker and has learned to be more gracious. She can look up to her dad for an example. His renewed passion for the game is evident after a serious illness.

She said, “It’s just as if this joy radiates out of him.”

Bobbi was studying at Wisconsin when she joined Athletes In Action, a Christian organization where she learned how her faith could be applied to other aspects of her life.

Bobbi said, “I say today that golf has become my church.” “I find God in nature, and have always done so.”

She said that the beauty of the desert mountains in Stage I contributed to the tranquility she experienced at Mission Hills.

Bobbi said, “There’s only one perfect being in the world, and that’s Jesus.” It relaxes me knowing that I will never achieve that perfection. Golf is not going to be like that.
