Brittany Lincicome, who couldn’t find a sponsor for her hat that was mom-friendly, found her game in the Chevron Championship

Apr, 2023

The Woodlands, Texas – Brittany Lincicome wore a shiny gold ballmarker in her hat spelling out the name of her youngest daughter Sophia during the first round at the Chevron championship. On Day 2, Brittany Lincicome will wear one spelling out the name of her eldest daughter Emery.

She said that she “can’t play favorites” after opening with a 2-under-70 at the first LPGA Major of the year. This was good for a fifth place tie.

Lincicome is a 37-year-old mother of two who has won two majors and eight victories in her career. She’s one of few mothers on the LPGA to still compete after having had two children.

The fact that the lid is blank was what stood out about Lincicome’s lid in The Club at Carlton Woods.

Lincicome joked, “I was planning to put your name here,” after losing her hat-and-bag sponsor in December last year.

It is the first time that the decorated American athlete has not had a sponsor for her hat, which brought in hundreds and thousands of dollars at the height of her career. Jeff Chilcoat said that Lincicome, who has a limited schedule since giving birth to her child in August last year, is looking to get anywhere between $60,000 and $100,000 for the space.

Chilcoat said, “I would expect that companies would actively seek out mothers and want to work together with them,” especially in products that are relevant to moms.

Chilcoat founded Sterling Sports Management and had several LPGA players, such as Stacy Lewis, Brittany Lang Gerina Piler, Brooke Pancake, and Lincicome, become mothers around the same period. Chilcoat wanted to replace sponsors who dropped out with mothers-oriented companies.

Chilcoat said, “We as a business purposefully created lists of brands we believed would work well for these mothers.”

They made hundreds of calls but didn’t find a company that matched their model.

He said, “No one stood up and did anything.”

Lincicome would love to see her children run onto the green in celebration of a win on the LPGA. She has seen this play out on the PGA Tour. Lincicome is making her fourth LPGA appearance since Sophia was born.

In 2023, she will also be working with a brand new caddie. Her longtime looper Missy Pederson has retired from the caddie world. Lincicome prefers female caddies and hired Britney Hamilton.

Lincicome is the only LPGA player who has jumped into Poppie’s Pond twice. She is enjoying every aspect of her week in Texas. From the Bentley she drives around town to the park where she took her daughters.

She said that “assuming Chevron remains with us for the next 20-30 years,” “I believe they have done an excellent job.”

What if she won this championship a third consecutive time this week.

She said with a smile, “I think I could retire.”
