Brooke Henderson was the first person to play alongside Annika Sorenstam before this week. Sorenstam was quick praise Henderson’s consistent, even-keele performance two rounds later.
Sorenstam, who is considered one of the greatest players of the game, said, “I think that was my strength, a bunch of fairways and a lot greens.”
Henderson made a strong impression on the 10-time major winner. She took a three-stroke lead into Saturday’s final round of Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions.
When Henderson holds the lead, Henderson has had a success rate of 41%.
Henderson said it was a privilege to play alongside Sorenstam, who has called Lake Nona Golf and Country Club her home for many decades. Mardy Fish, a former tennis player, is 15 points behind Henderson in the celebrity division. It uses a Stableford format.
Henderson said, “If I could just take small pieces of her game to add them to mine, that would be amazing.”

Henderson said, “I believe just the toughness.” “She is a tough competitor and that’s something I admire about her.”
Henderson hopes to win the season-opening TOC using a complete bag of TaylorMade equipment at an LPGA tournament.
Henderson said that she wasn’t as smooth today, but she felt like they fought it out well. “I still hit the ball very well and gave myself plenty of chances, so there are no complaints.”
No. 2 Korda made four birdies on the back nine to improve her score of 4-under 68. Korda won at Lake Nona the 2021 Gainbridge LPGA.
Korda said, “You know, I play pretty aggressively so I wasn’t hitting it very well on the front nine.” It was fine. I was only missing my spot by a few yards. That goes from about 10 to 15 feet to 15, 20 feet. That’s a good start.
“On the back nine I picked a target, more aggressively targeted, and really dialed in to that. I think that helped a lot.”
