Brooks Koepka doesn’t mince words.
Koepka is the defending champion of LIV Golf Jeddah and has a 3-shot lead on Sergio Garcia and Charles Howell II going into the final round at King Abdullah Economic City, Saudi Arabia. Koepka has spoken after both his rounds so far this week. But what he said following Friday’s first 18 holes at Royal Greens Golf and Country Club is the peak of Koepka.
Koepka answered a question regarding the brotherhood within his Smash GC Team, which also includes his brother Chase Koepka along with Jason Kokrak, Matthew Wolff, and Matthew Wolff. Koepka’s response makes it appear that he views his team differently.
Koepka stated, “There are only three of us in our team.” “Obviously, my brother and I are pretty close, but I also enjoy being around Jay. I’ve known him for about three years. I have enjoyed being around Jay. He’s an excellent player and super talented. It’s fun to be with him and he has played well this year. “I can’t say a bad word about him.
Wolff? Not mentioned.
“Well, there’s only three of us on our Team.” – BKoepka leads going into Championship Sunday at #LIVGolf Jeddah. He was talking about the “Brotherhood of @SmashGC.”
You can be sure I will not tolerate this type of petty BS. You may not love it, but I do! Smash is just 3 shots behind! ! pic.twitter.com/jMF5xoWELhPro Golf Critic October 14, 2020
Koepka criticized Wolff’s attitude and work ethic in July. Wolff, in turn, questioned Koepka ‘s leadership .
This week Wolff is at T-42 with 1 over. Since LIV Golf Adelaide, in April, Wolff has had only one better finish than 34th: a fifth place at The Greenbrier. He is also 25th overall in the points race for the entire season, which means he could be released or traded from his team at the end of the transfer period.
Wolff is not returning to Smash GC for the next season.
