LOS ANGELES – Brooks Koepka, the five-time major winner, made the cut for the U.S. Open on Friday by shooting a 1-under 69 to reach even par. But that doesn’t mean he is excited to play two more rounds at Los Angeles Country Club.
You won’t find Koepka on any promotional material for the exclusive golf course between Beverly Hills and Westwood.
He said on Friday, “I don’t like this place.” “I think there are some places where no matter how you hit the ball, it always ends up at the same place.
“I’ve won majors at golf courses I didn’t like too much.” “But, yeah, this course, I don’t know,… It’s not my favourite.”
U.S. Open: Leaderboards, tee-times, hole-byhole
Koepka was never in any danger of being the most surprising player to miss the U.S. Open cut, but there is still a lot to be done on the weekend to stay in contention. When his round was over and the afternoon waves were teeing-off, he was nine shots behind the leader.
Koepka wasn’t happy with his first round, but thought he performed better on Friday. It’s the difference between missing shots and those you can’t miss.
He said, “Like missing the 9 in the one spot that you cannot miss.” “Just little things like that. Scoring holes. Irons off the tee and I hit the rough.
It’s frustrating to hear such stupid things.
Koepka returned to par for the entire tournament after a birdie at No. It was his first hole for the day. He never managed to string together birdies. He returned a shot at No. 12, birdied No. The first hole was birdied, and the next four holes were alternated between bogeys and birdies.
Koepka stated, “I have to play two rounds of good golf. That’s what I must do.” “But I would love to be higher up than where I am now.”
Koepka will be looking to continue on his hot streak in the majors, after finishing runner up at the Masters. He also won the Wanamaker Trophy at the PGA Championship last month.
