Bryson DeChambeau using TaylorMade driver at PIF Saudi International

Feb, 2023

Bryson de Chambeau won the 2020 U.S. Open in Winged Foot with a Cobra driver. If you visit the company’s website, your image will be placed between Rickie Fowler, Lexi Thompson and Gary Woodland. These are Cobra’s marquee brand ambassadors.

DeChambeau did not use a new Cobra Aerojet driver. He was using one of the LTDx drivers and a Speed driver from last season. DeChambeau instead used a TaylorMade Stealth2 Plus+.

DeChambeau is a fast swinger in golf. He has hit drives over 400 yard in long-drive competitions, and he also hit the ball 377 yard over a lake at the Bay Hill Club & Lodge’s par-5 sixth hole in 2021. It is difficult to fit someone who swings so hard into a driver. DeChambeau expressed his dissatisfaction with his driver in the past. He said at 2021 British Open that “the driver sucks.” It’s not good for me and we’re still trying out ways to make up for the mis-hits. “I’m living on the razor’s edge,” I tell people.

DeChambeau’s TaylorMade driver, in Saudi Arabia, is fitted with a Project X T1100 shaft. This shaft is part of a partnership with LA Golf. The Project X T1100 shaft is counterbalanced, and is ideal for players who are very spin-sensitive.
