Callaway’s new drivers were added to the United States Golf Association list of conforming driver heads on Monday morning as the United States welcomed the year 2024. The USGA tested the driver heads to make sure they met equipment standards and complied with Rules of Golf. A driver head that has been added to the list can be used in any official round or competition, such as this week’s PGA Tour tournament, The Sentry, at the Kapalua Resort, Hawaii.
Callaway has yet to make an official announcement regarding the Paradym A.I. There are currently 11 different versions of the Paradym A.I. There are now smoke drivers on the list. This means that some of these models will almost certainly be Tour-only. We can, however, make educated guesses based on photos on the USGA website, descriptions and notes about Callaway’s past clubs and technologies. Smoke family.
- Forged carbon. Callaway’s drivers have been made with carbon fiber sole panels and crowns for many years. In Paradym 2023 drivers the brand developed a 360 degree forged carbon chassis which wrapped the material around the entire center of the head. Forged Carbon appears on the soles of each driver. It is possible that the Paradym A.I. will have this feature. Smoke is expected to have the same construction.
- Ai SMART Face. Although we can’t see it in the USGA pictures, the USGA description notes that the club faces have the words “Ai Smart Face.” Odyssey, Callaway’s putter division, released the Ai ONE putters and Ai ONE milled putters a few weeks ago. These clubs feature Ai standards, which stand for artificial intelligence. Callaway’s designers have used artificial intelligence for many years to create driver faces. This could indicate that the Paradym A.I. has a new face technology. Smoke drivers.
- Triple Diamond is Low Spin. Callaway has for several years designated their low-spin golf drivers as Sub-Zero. However, recently, the company began using three diamonds, or the Triple Diamond, to indicate that the product was made for elite, fast-swinging golfers. The Triple Diamond, Triple Diamond + and Triple Diamond S are among the drivers that now appear on the list of conforming drivers. The soles of all but the Triple Diamond + seem to be equipped with two weights that can be moved, one foreward and one backward. This two-weight system allowed players and fitters in the past to change the spin rate or launch angle of the shoe by switching a heavy with a light weight.
- Max is the standard. No club has a label that simply says Paradym A.I. Smoke, all of the new models on the USGA’s list are labeled as an additional name. It is therefore logical that Max is the standard model. The Max driver has a weight that can be moved in the rear. This should allow fitters and players to adjust the bias for a draw. Weights in the sole are not interchangeable because the weight on the front is of a different shape. This weight is probably there to allow fitters to adjust the swingweight of the club.
- Max-D = Draw Although this club does not have the sliding weight at the back of the club head like the Max, any brand that adds a “D” to the name of a golf club means draw. This driver was probably designed to aid golfers who slice.
- Max Fast. The Max Fast may be for players with slower swings. Why do you think so? The USGA note states that the club is available in 9.5-, 10.5, 11.5, and 12-degree lofts. The higher lofts are not practical for golfers who swing faster, but those who have difficulty generating speed will often opt for high-lofted clubs to maximize their carry distance. Paradym A.I. drivers are also adjustable, just like the others. The Max Fast Smoke Driver has an adjustable hosel.
