Cameron Young was runner-up five more times on the PGA Tour last season.
Young, at 25 years old, has been so close to winning the Tour’s first victory. Young clearly has one goal for 2023. Right?
Not quite.
“I feel like last year I played really well. Young said that he feels there is a lot of emphasis on him trying to win the first time. Young was speaking ahead of the Bay Hill Arnold Palmer Invitational. “But for me, it’s important to see it as I can win a tournament this year, and not necessarily be better than last year. It is not a sign of improvement in this sense.
“It is obvious that you must play great golf to win here, and I played some fantastic golf last year. “I was just beaten by one guy a few time.”
Young, a rookie on the PGA Tour, made 25 cuts last season and was in the top 25 a total of 12 times. This includes five close calls at the British Open. New Yorker and Florida resident, Young, was also T-2 at the Sanderson Farms Championships, Genesis Invitational and Wells Fargo Championships.
MORE Cameron Young Through the Years
“So, I’m just trying to keep to what I know and get better. Young said that this is what Young believes he’s doing. “I don’t believe the results have shown it this year so far. However, I have played some good golf, and I believe if I keep doing what I do, keep pounding on the stone, the results can speak for themselves.”
Young was awarded the Arnold Palmer Award as Tour’s rookie of year for his efforts. Wake Forest graduate Young was not impressed by Bay Hill this week.
He is a great person, particularly in the history of professional golf. It’s a great feeling to have any kind of connection with him. Young said that he believes it was a sign that he is doing good things. It was very special to be awarded the award and to connect with Palmer in another way.
It’s been a year since I looked forward to going back. It is one of my favorite courses of the year. It is an amazing golf course. The area is very familiar to me. My family used to spend some time there in winter. It almost feels like home. It’s one that I look forward to every year.
It sounds like the ideal place to win your first game, doesn’t you think?
