“The world has changed significantly from the time we initially evaluated the opportunity,” a senior VP said.
The resort was slated to be completed in the fall of 2022 after years of construction stoppages and legal woes.
“Flying, golf and citrus were all wrapped up in one big ball of wax,” he said. “Golf was huge.”
A $1.8 million restoration originally planned to take just six months, but instead took more than a year.
Together, the courses, marketed as Golf in Venice, include 63 holes of championship golf.
“I would much rather hit the lottery, but I’ll take the hole-in-one.”
It came down to the 18th hole, but the Florida Gators men’s golf team got a clutch putt from John DuBois to upset Vanderbilt.
