FORT WORTH (Texas) — The merchandise tent at this week’s Charles Schwab Challenge in Fort Worth is cramped, warm, and difficult to navigate.
Tournament organizers claim it is still a blessing.
The area where the merchandise is kept and the performance centre is located was rendered unusable after a fire was put out on Sunday evening in an empty tent. This was just as Colonial Country Club was about to stock up the area with shirts, hats, and other souvenirs for this week.
“Something sparked. Dennis Roberson is the tournament director. “We’re not sure yet what it was,” he said. “We had security on-site the entire week, and they found it fairly quickly and helped to put it out.”
In the following 24 hours, crews set up a smaller marquee in an area that is usually reserved for tennis. Roberson admitted that organizers preferred a grander, more elaborate presentation but he was still pleased with how his team jumped in.
He said, “We have been given an unfortunate circumstance, and we are moving, managing, fixing problems, putting new signage up and making the most of it.” “We are doing Colonial and moving forward.”
What if all the tents were already occupied?
Roberson stated that “if it happens on Monday night, it will probably end in a catastrophe.” “The way things happened, we were able to salvage some things.”
