Cheyenne Knight and Elizabeth Szokol win Dow Great Lakes LPGA team event

Cheyenne Knight & Elizabeth Szokol tied for 18th place after the first round, and for sixth place after the second.

The LPGA’s Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational is still 18 holes away, and the leaders are three shots ahead of the rest of the field.

Knight/Szokol produced a score of 61 during the second round on Thursday, which was tied with Amelia Lewis and Paula Reto for the second best score. Jodi Shadoff and Emma Talley scored 60.

Knight/Szokol shot 62 on Friday, which was the lowest score in the third round. It was four shots better than the previous day. They had a back nine 29 and nine birdies in total.

Knight and Szokol have 18 points less than Matilda Castren/Kelly Tan. Celine Borge/Polly Mack and Shadoff/Talley are tied for third place at 13 under.

Knight’s only LPGA victory is the 2019 Volunteers of America Classic. Szokol wants to win her first LPGA tournament.

The notable teams who missed the cut on Thursday were Brooke Henderson/Lexi Thompson; Ruoning Yin/Xiaowen Yin; and Georgia Hall/Ryann o’Toole.

The Amundi Evian Championship, the next major of the LPGA, will be held in France on Saturday. This gives those who are traveling to France for the Amundi Evian Championship an extra day.

Dow to finish Sunday in 2024

Since its inception, the Dow has always had a Saturday end. The Dow will end on Sunday next year.

The Dow will host the first official team event in LPGA Tour’s history in 2024, when the Summer Olympics in Paris will take place.
