Chez Reavie, the ‘old guy’ in this case, is looking to defend his title at Barracuda Championship

Jul, 2023

TRUCKEE, Calif. This week, the PGA Tour will return to the region with the Barracuda Championship at Old Greenwood starting on Thursday.

Chez Reavie will defend his title as the Barracuda champion, a PGA Tour/DP World Tour event co-sanctioned by both tours. The Barracuda is played alongside the 151st British Open. Reavie will be one of 156 players.

Reavie became the first 40-year old to win the PGA Tour in 2013.

“I may have been the only forty-year-old who won. Reavie: “It’s strange to say but it’s good to be the oldest man on tour who wins every year. That means you are doing something right.”

He took a week’s break to prepare for the Barracuda after finishing 35th at the John Deere classic earlier in the month.

He claimed that he had never seen Lake Tahoe before. He said that when he played in Montreux (the previous venue until 2019), he was closest to the lake.

Reavie was surprised by how flat the Old Greenwood course is. He had expected more elevation changes because he played in the mountains.

It is a great golf course. Reavie stated that the course was great for both professionals and amateurs. The golf course has a lot of character.
