Bob Vokey is the wedge guru for Titleist. When asked which of his many wedge designs is his favourite, it’s like asking a parent which child they love most. But pushed, “Voke”, as he is affectionately called, confesses the M Grind is probably at the top of his list.
He confessed this to Golfweek some years ago.
Titleist’s WedgeWorks program now offers a 54-degree M Grind version of the Vokey Design M Grind. Previously, this wedge was only available in 56-, 58-, 60-, and 62 degree versions. WedgeWorks, the boutique division within the Vokey wedge company, allows golfers the opportunity to customize their clubs and get unique grinds. They can also purchase Vokey-branded products.
Vokey explained that the M grind was a medium bounce wedge with a sole grind on the heel, toe, and trailing edge. It is designed for players looking for a sand-wedge to use in firmer soil or bunkers. The sand wedge is ideal for golfers who have a neutral or sweeping delivery and like to hit shots in different directions or orientations around the greens.
The WedgeWorks 54 degree M Grind wedge is only available in the right-hand version. It has a raw-steel finish, which will rust with time and exposure to water and air. The wedge will be sold for $225 and include a True Temper Dynamic Gold S200 golf shaft, as well as a Golf Pride Tour Velvet360 grip. Custom stamping and color fill options are available through the WedgeWorks Program
