TGL’s debut is still over a year away, as announced by Tiger Woods & Rory McIlroy last summer, but we are already seeing news about potential participants.
TGL will consist of six teams made up of three PGA Tour players. The matches will take place on Monday nights beginning January 2024. Fans can view every shot on primetime television as the contests are held on virtual courses.
Monday saw the addition of Collin Morikawa (and Adam Scott) to the circuit. They will be joining Woods, McIlroy and Jon Rahm in the series.
Morikawa stated that he can see where younger viewers will be drawn to the games.
“I loved the energy and team play that it brought to my game, especially match play, during my amateur and college golf careers. This has been made even more enjoyable by the opportunity to represent the U.S. at the Ryder Cup or Presidents Cup. I look forward to joining a TGL team next season, said Morikawa. “I think that TGL’s design to offer sports fans the best of the world in a weekly, primetime tournament in golf, with the entire thing happening in just two hours, will appeal more to casual golfers and introduce the sport to younger golf fans.”

Mike McCarley, CEO of TMRW, stated via a release that Scott and Morikawa are strategic additions for the new series.
“As we complete the TGL roster, the additions champions Collin Morikawa or Adam Scott continue to fuel our momentum towards launching TGL. McCarley stated that Scott and Morikawa are a good example of the high quality competition we want to create in TGL. “They embrace what TGL has to offer fans: a short-form elite competition in primetime, where world-class athletes square off in team play.
Woods stated that TGL was the next generation of professional golf and that he is committed to leading it into the future. “We can make our sport a major sports event by embracing technology and creating this unique environment.”
