DUBLIN (Ohio) — Collin Morikawa has pulled out of the tournament due to back spasms. Morikawa finished the third round tied for ninth, two shots behind the leader.
This is the first time that Morikawam has withdrawn from a PGA Tour tournament. The announcement of his withdrawal came shortly before 12:55 pm ET tee time. His withdrawal was announced shortly before his 12:55 p.m. On Golf Channel, he was seen warming up at the driving range before walking into the parking lot.
On Sunday, he was paired up with Keegan Bradley who will now be playing alone.
Morikawa is a familiar face at Muirfield Village. He won the Workday Charity Open at the course during the COVID-affected season of 2020 and tied for second place in the Memorial 2021.
Morikawa has won two major championships. He won the PGA Championship and the British Open, both in 2020.
