Just hours ahead of the first Netflix Cup, a made-for-streaming-TV event at Wynn Golf Club in Las Vegas, Collin Morikawa took to social media to say he’d be forced to miss the event with a back ailment.
Formula 1 drivers will compete against PGA Tour golfers in a match play tournament on the Strip’s only 18-hole course to kick-off the Formula 1 Heineken Silver Las Vegas Grand Prix. Match play will be streamed live on Netflix starting at 6 pm ET. ET.
Other PGA Tour players involved include Justin Thomas, Max Homa and Rickie Fowler. F1 drivers competing include Alex Albon, Pierre Gasly, Lando Norris and Carlos Sainz.
Tony Finau is going to replace Morikawa who has said that he has tweaked his lower back and needs to put his health first.

Morikawa had experienced similar problems in the past, including an WD due to back spasms at the 2023 Memorial.
Morikawa, 26, said that his back “just sort of gave out” while working out before the event at Muirfield Village just outside Columbus.
Morikawa stated before the June event, “We were doing some receptive stuff. We were trying to reach downward and I tried picking something up quickly and low.” “I have never felt this bad in my entire life. “I’ve had back pain before, but it was never this bad. I never warmed up and did nothing pre-round.
It’s probably the first time in my life that I have ever pulled out of a tournament. It’s a shame because I love this tournament. I played well, and we are still in the running. “I have to think about myself, and I need to be smart.”
Morikawa said that he also injured his back in college.
“I was out like a week.” He told the Columbus Dispatch that he had pulled a left-side muscle. “But it was only. “I crashed to the floor, just a random splutter.”
