AUGUSTA (Georgia) — A Georgia golf course in Augusta that has been closed for many years may have found a buyer.
As of Dec. 9, online real estate listings list property at 2900 Green Meadows Drive as “pending”. This is the former Green Meadows Golf Club site. An “pending” status indicates that the seller of the property has accepted an offer from a buyer, but that the property has not been officially sold.
Russ Trulock, Blanchard and Calhoun Real Estate’s Realtor, stated Dec. 8 that the parties were performing due diligence on the property of 125 acres. He said he doesn’t know the plans of the potential buyer for the land but that he is hopeful that it can be sold. It’s an amazing piece of real estate.
The asking price for the property is $3,746,060 according to ad. According to Richmond County records, the property is valued at $1705,921.
After opening as Green Meadows Country Club, the 18-hole course was renamed in 1960. However, the future of the course was in jeopardy after Kenny Miles Jr., the course’s former owner and operator, died in 2016.
The course’s real estate listing describes the potential for redevelopment into residential or professional housing, and some areas that could be used as apartments, professionals, or businesses.
It could be kept as a golf course and possibly even upgraded. Two photos were added to the long-defunct Facebook page of the course last August, but they didn’t have captions. The first photo shows a flag pin placed on an empty green. The second shows a sign at Green Meadows’ 16th Hole that lists yard lengths for four sets of tees. Green Meadows used to provide only three sets of tees.
