Bryson deChambeau won his first LIV event last week at the Greenbrier after shooting a Sunday 58.

DataGolf says Bryson’s score of 58 is not as impressive as it may seem. The true strokes gained metrics did not rate it as one of the top rounds of the year, and the data also shows that it was the 328th-best round in history.
?5??8?? Data Golf reports that Bryson deChambeau’s final round of 58 at LIV Greenbrier was not so good after all …?
Bryson’s round of 58 was ranked 328th in all-time strokes gained and 9th this year.

Although the numbers have been adjusted for field size and strength, they are still quite surprising.
The reaction of LIV’s fans to DataGolf tweet was not surprising.
It’s utterly stupid. Smaller fields reduce the variance in scores and therefore SGs.
If you believe this, then JB Holmes’ 62 on Sunday would have been 54 in the same conditions as Greenbrier.
The raw numbers of analytics has shattered people’s minds.

DeChambeau will tee off again at LIV Golf Bedminster this week. This week’s rough is different from the one at Greenbrier. It is unlikely that we will see another score of 58 on Saturday.
