The LIV Golf league’s first ever trade has been completed by two teams.
Sergio Garcia’s Fireballs GC has acquired David Puig from Joaquin Niemann’s Torque GC, where he competed and placed 31st among 50 players on the LIV’s season-long rankings in 2023. Carlos Ortiz was 15th in last season’s standings.
With the addition of Abraham Ancer from Mexico, Eugenio, Puig and Garcia to the Fireballs, they will be a majority Spanish team. Torque now has a full Latin American roster with Chileans Niemann, Mito Periera and Ortiz.
LIV Golf is a golfing powerhouse that can dominate the offseason with its news. However, since its team championship at the end of October, ‘s upstart circuit has been relatively quiet. This week, marks the first LIV golf Promotions event. Three players will be selected to a team in 2024. The event takes place from Dec. 8-10, at Abu Dhabi Golf Club . It features a field which includes two former Ryder Cup golfers, several rising amateurs and an ex-major champion.
