David Toms wins PGA Tour Champions Cologuard Classic. The event will move to a new venue in 2024.

TUCSON (Ariz.) — David Toms shot a 6-under-30 on Saturday’s front nine and was two shots ahead after 36 holes at 2023 Cologuard Classic.

He led by four after 11 holes, and was up by two when he reached the par-4 18th. This hole is rated as the most difficult on the PGA Tour Champions last year.

Toms had trouble driving his tee shot down the fairway’s right side for the third consecutive day.

Toms had only five bogeys in 72 holes, and three of them were on the 18th. However, bogey wasn’t enough for Sunday. Toms finished at 15 under par and beat Robert Karlsson by one shot with a 68. Toms (68, 65-68-68) had 19 birdies in three days.

Gene Sauers shot a 64 on Sunday and tied Mark Hensby at third at 12 under. Doug Barron was solo fifth at 11 over. Lee Janzen, Marco Dawson and a tie for sixth at 10 over

  • Miguel Angel Jimenez – Tournament’s current champion shot 70-70 -69 to finish 7 below
  • Bernhard Langer: The Champions tour record 46th victory will have to wait as he shot 72–68–70 to tie for 19th
  • Jerry Kelly: tournament Ambassador also tied for 19th.

A new venue opens in 2024

Sunday’s announcement by The Cologuard Classic that the event will move to a new venue next season was made by Jack Nicklaus, who designed La Paloma Country Club. It will host the event in 2024. This private club is located about 10 miles north of Tucson National, the venue for this year’s event. It has hosted since 2015.

Cologuard previously announced a continuation of its title sponsorship through 2027.
