Davis Love III withdrawn just before the first round of the U.S. Senior Open in Stevens Point.
Love has been selected by U.S. Ryder Cup captain Zach Johnson as vice captain for 2023 matches, which will be held from September 29 to October 1 at Marco Simone Golf and Country Club. Love was one of the 72 exempted players and scheduled to play his third U.S. Senior Open.
Tom Werkmeister (55 years old) was the first alternate. Werkmeister played in a trio with Kevin Sutherland and Jerry Kelly at 9:42 ET. He will continue to play with this pairing for the first two rounds. The event will air on Golf Channel between 12 and 3 p.m. ET and 6-8 pm.

Werkmeister is making his fourth appearance at the tournament. In 2019, he finished T-43 when the event was held at The Warren Course, at Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind.
