PEBBLE BEACH (California) – This week, the 78th U.S. Women’s Open marked the beginning of a new era in women’s major championships golf. Heidi Ueberroth, co-chair of the Pebble Beach Company, is partly responsible for three more U.S. Women’s opens (2035,2040,2048).

Ueberroth has been a power player in the sports business for many decades. He is currently president and managing director of Globicon. This private investment and advisory company focuses on high-growth potential in media, sport, entertainment, and hospitality.

Ueberroth, who is one of the few female members of Augusta National, was named by Business Week as being among the 100 most powerful people in sports. She spent the last 20 years overseeing the expansion of the NBA’s international division. Ueberroth, one of only a few female Augusta National members, has been named as one of the Top 100 Sports People by Business Week.

Ueberroth family has a long-standing relationship with the resort. Heidi’s dad, Peter, was a part of the group which included Clint Eastwood, Arnold Palmer, and purchased Pebble Beach Company more than 20 years earlier. Heidi was on the board of directors for several years, before becoming co-chair.

Here are some excerpts of Golfweek’s interview with Ueberroth about Pebble’s involvement in women’s golf, business golf and rounds with dad.
