Donald Trump declared himself again a winner.
Trump posted on social media Tuesday that he had won the Senior Club Championship at Trump International Golf Club, unincorporated West Palm Beach. This was despite not having played the first round.
According to the Daily Mail, members arrived on the second day shocked to find Trump leading by five points. Trump didn’t play the first round because he was attending the funeral of Lynette Hardaway, an ardent supporter of Trump. He is also known as “Diamond” by conservative political commentators Diamond and Silk.
Trump informed tournament organizers that he had played a strong round at the course on Thursday. That score would be his Saturday score for club championship. This score was five more than any other competitor in Saturday’s first round.
Trump said it was a “great honour” to win “on one the best courses in America, in Palm Beach County” in a post on Truth Social.
He wrote, “Competed against many fine golfers. Was hitting the ball straight and long.” It serves as a physical examination, but it is MUCH more difficult, which is why I am revealing this on fantastic TRUTH. To win, you need strength and stamina. I have that – many others don’t. To GOVERN, you also need strength and stamina.”
Trump’s Thursday round saw him score 40 using the Stableford technique, five more than Saturday’s best round according to the Daily Mail.
Trump, a Palm Beach resident who played more golf than any president before his election, achieved a hole in one in April. This feat was confirmed by Ernie Els, a Hall of Fame golfer who was part of Trump’s foursome on that day. Trump used a 5-iron to play the 181-yard seventh green.
Trump participated in the October pro-am, just before LIV Golf’s season end at his Doral course.
He said, “I hit it straight. I hit good drives. I hit great irons.”
