Due to ongoing pandemic concerns, the Blue Bay LPGA event has been cancelled in China

Feb, 2023

Blue Bay LPGA’s event in China was canceled again. On Tuesday night, the LPGA issued a statement stating that the event, which was scheduled to take place on March 9-12, on Hainan Island in China, had been cancelled due to ongoing COVID-19-related matters.

This tournament featured a $2.1million purse and was the last leg of a three event Asian swing. It followed events in Thailand, Singapore, and Thailand. Since October 2019, the LPGA has not hosted a tournament at China. Last year’s Blue Bay LPGA tournament was held in 2018.

The LPGA released a 2023 schedule last November. It included a total prize pool of $101.4 million, 33 official events, and two Chinese-based events. The Buick LPGA Shanghai is the second event. It will take place Oct. 13-15.
