LIV Golf started its season over the weekend with Charles Howell III taking home victory at Mayakoba’s El Camaleon Golf Course.
The individual title was won by and the team, Crushers GC took the team event. This means that Howell III earned $4 million, out of a total prize pool of $25 million.
The season opener in Mexico went without incident, but one comment made by David Feherty during Sunday’s final round raised eyebrows.
According to Geoff Shackelford, Feherty called Greg Norman, LIV’s commissioner “probably one of the most well-known athletes on the planet” during the ’80s, ’90s, and ’00s.
Catching up with the @livgolf_league broadcast (no spoilers!) Contrary to my doctor’s order. Feherty said Greg Norman was the greatest athlete of the 1980s and 1990s. Feherty rewarded me with Feherty’s compliments. You have to feed the Commishes ego! pic.twitter.com/BO7VjiGxwe

Not surprising, golf fans didn’t buy the take from the colourful commentator.

Mike Tyson was the most well-known athlete on the planet during that time. He was also the most hated man on the planet.
