DORAL, Fla. – The shot that everyone wanted to talk about after the semifinals of the 2023 LIV Golf Team Championship on Saturday was the one that ended up in the woods.
Harold Varner III told Dustin Johnson that he heard he had shanked a line drive on the 16th par-3 hole.
Johnson stated that it was not a shank. It went straight right.
Bubba Watson is next. He said, “Nice shank at 15.”
DJ said, “It’s solid.” “Right on the hosel.”
Johnson stated that “it went pretty much as I expected.” The rest of the day went well, except for the shot at 15.
The shank of the DJ: “It’s solid.” “Right square on the hosel.”
I spoke with him just before tonight’s press conference and he admitted that he is prone to shanks, especially when trying to draw a ball. This one didn’t bother him.
