Jon Rahm has two wins in two starts in 2023 and is the star of the Farmers Insurance Open.
Rahm won 2021 U.S. Open in Torrey Pines. This was one of two Torrey Pines wins. He also won 2017 Farmers, his first professional win.
Rahm is a master at this venue. He has a solo second, tie for third, tie for fifth and tie for seventh.
Collin Morikawa and Justin Thomas will be part of The Farmers, as well as Max Homa, Max Zalatoris, Hideki Moatsuyama, Justin Thomas, Justin Thomas, Hideki Maatsuyama, Justin Thomas, Tony Finau, and Hideki Matsuyama.
Luke List, the tournament’s defending champion, is back as well. He won in his 207 th PGA Tour debut and beat Will Zalatoris in a dramatic playoff.
Morikawa will seek to redeem himself after losing a 54-hole lead by six shots at the Sentry Tournament of Champions.
This will be the second year in a row that the Farmers will feature a Wednesday-to-Saturday format. The PGA Tour has a strategy to avoid a Sunday final round against the AFC or NFC Championship games.
Torrey Pines South measures 7,765 yards and is a par 72 course. The South and North courses are used for the first two rounds. The fourth-ranked South course is the Golfweek’s California Best Courses.
