The South Course at Torrey Pines in San Diego – which is the site of the 2023 Farmers Insurance Open, on the PGA Tour – was designed by William P. Bell (father-son) and William F. Bell. It opened in 1957. Rees Jones made many improvements to the layout in 2001.
After the field has been cut, the Farmers’ first two rounds (Wednesday & Thursday) will be divided between Torrey Pines North and South courses. The final two rounds (Friday & Saturday) will be on the South. The final round of APGA Tour Farmers Insurance Invitational will be held on Sunday at the South course.
The South is No. The South ranks No. 4 on Golfweek’s Best List of Public-Access Courses in each State. 103 on Golfweek’s Best List of all Classic Courses Built in the U.S.A. Before 1960 The North Course is ranked No. 10 of California’s public access tracks.
The South will play 7,765 yards with an average par 72, while North plays 7,258 yards with an average par 72.
