Gareth Bale, his Wales team-mates and the USMNT matchup find a way to get around the Qatari golf ban for 2022 World Cup.

Nov, 2022

Gareth Bale, a world-class soccer player, has won five UEFA Champions League titles and three La Liga titles with Spanish powerhouse Real Madrid. He is currently playing in the United States and recently helped Los Angeles FC win 2022 MLS Cup.

The 33-year old from Cardiff, Wales is an avid golfer, but not at the World Cup in Qatar. Bale, a key member of the Wales team that faces the United States in the group stage, was told by his manager Rob Page that they are not permitted to play golf at the international event. Page wanted the team to focus on the task at hand.

“Yeah. “Yeah. “We’re there to do a task,” stated Page. In the past, Gareth, Kieffer, or Aaron Ramsey may have approached me to ask what the plan was for tomorrow. I would say, “No, there aren’t meetings.” If you want to play nine holes, then that’s what you should do. That is when you can build up to a double-header. We won’t have enough time. There is a new game every four days. It’s relentless.”

This doesn’t mean that Bale’s golf swing has become stale in gulf. The team has installed a golf simulator at their luxury hotel.

Mark Harris , Bale’s teammate, said, “We just went in the swimming pool, table tennis, pool, and golf.” “Games like these help build team spirit. Gareth is very skilled at golf. We all had a shot after training, and had some time to practice.

Bale also serves as a global ambassador of the R&A.

U.S. vs. Wales kicks off at 2 p.m. ET on Monday.
