Gary Player’s 7-word slam of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur leaves fans in shock

Gary Player was joined by Alison Whitaker in the commentary booth during the first round at the Gary Player Golf Course.

The subject of female golfers at Augusta National was brought up during a Justin Thomas’ shot.

“Now that a woman is a member, it’s fantastic. She’s the greatest lady golfer on the planet, or was. Player said that it was wonderful to see Annika Sorenstam join Augusta National.

Whitaker then brought up Augusta National Women’s Amateur, and how good it is for golf.

Player responded, “I’m not with you on this”.

After the comment, the topic quickly changed and X users were divided on whether he should have been criticized or not.

One X user suggested that the comment could have been due to Player’s history with ANGC, rather than the women playing there.

C’mon, guys. He is clearly talking about another topic. Augusta has been in conflict with him over his grandson.
