Gemma Dryburgh, Toto’s defending champion and players on the CME point bubble make a late push in Japan

LPGA players are in Japan putting on a big push with only two events remaining before the CME Tour Championship. The season finale will offer a purse of $7 million and a $2 million prize for the winner.

Gemma Dryburgh, champion of the 2022 Toto-Japan Classic, is one of these players. The Scot currently sits 60th in the CME point list. The Annika driven at Pelican by Gainbridge and the top 60 players, including ties, advance to Tiburon Golf Club near Naples in Florida.

Akie Iwai is ranked No. 36 in the world. After Round 1 of Toto, 36th in the world Akie Iwai leads the field with a 9 under 63. Iwai, a three-time Japanese champion, tied Shanshan Feng’s record for the 18-hole score on the Minori Course.

Japan’s Nasa Hasaoka, who has won six times on the LPGA Tour, is tied for second place at 8 under.
