It is true that many pro golfers can attest to the old saying “what a change a year makes”.
There are some positives and some negatives when it comes to the Golfweek/Sagarin ranking for men’s Professional Golf.
Will Zalatoris was one of those big sliders who slid in the wrong direction. It wasn’t his fault as he had back surgery and missed many games.
Ludvig berg, a rising star, is like a shooting-star, having rocketed to the top 10 in the December 2023 rankings.
Here is a closer look at the most significant changes in the Golfweek/Sagarin ranking from a year earlier. How they work:
Jeff Sagarin’s rating system is built on a mathematical formula which uses a player’s won-lost or tied record against other golfers who play on the exact same course, on the same date. The stroke differential between these players then links players together based upon common opponents. The ratings show who has been playing well in the last 52 weeks.
To be ranked, players need to have participated in 10 or more events.
