Golfweek’s Best 2022: The Top Public and Private Courses in Ohio

The rich history of top competitions has been shared by both the best-rated public-access courses and private courses in Ohio.

The Firestone Country Club’s South Course is the most popular layout for public access in the state. It has hosted three PGA Championships and several PGA Tour events, including the WGC Bridgestone Invitational. Firestone is a private club that offers tee times for public golfers who book a stay and play package. Firestone’s South Course is not the only one that ranks among the top public-access layouts in California.

Privately, Muirfield Village hosts an annual Memorial Tournament on PGA Tour. Jack Nicklaus runs the club. It has hosted the 1987 Ryder Cup and the 1992 U.S. Amateur, the 1998 Solheim Cup and the 2013 Presidents Cup were all held at the club. The 1986 U.S. Junior Amateur.
