You can play at the top public access courses in one of the USA’s most popular golf destinations. You’re covered – as is Myrtle Beach. We’ve compiled a list of courses within an hour of the Grand Strand based on the Golfweek Best Rankings of South Carolina public-access golf courses.
We used Google Maps to calculate the driving times for each course on a Saturday morning, using Myrtle Beach International Airport, as a starting point. This list includes a map showing where all the courses are located. Scroll down to see each number. The numbers indicate the order of the courses.
Each course’s position on Golfweek’s list of the Best public-access courses in South Carolina is also included. The positions of any courses that appear on our other popular ranking lists are also included.

Background: Our course-rating panel, which consists of hundreds of members, continuously rates courses on the basis of 10 criteria. The points are assigned on a scale of 1-10. Each course is also given a single overall rating. These ratings are then averaged out to create our Golfweek Best Course rankings.
These courses are open to the public in one way or another, whether it’s through standard green fees per day, a resort affiliation, a stay at an affiliated hotel, or a golf package. There’s no need to be a member if you want to play golf.
