What you need to know: With a blend of minimalistic aesthetics and advanced multi-material technology, TaylorMade’s new Qi irons aim to deliver the optimal combination of distance, accuracy and solid feel in an inviting game-improvementpackage. The Qi Iron’s core features are individual head optimization, FLTD CG and organic face designs. These all work together to minimize the right miss. TaylorMade’s latest irons have been designed to have a significantly reduced right bias for straighter, more accurate shots.
What’s New in 2024 TaylorMade Qi Irons?
Integrated System Design TaylorMade introduces its new Integrated System Design with Qi Irons-a suite technologies aimed at optimising each iron head. TaylorMade says that the system’s advantage is its ability to facilitate communication between key technologies during the entire engineering process. It is important because face design, Speed Pocket technology and mass distribution all influence ball speeds, spin rates, launch angles, and spin rates.
FLTD-CG:In a nutshell, FLTD-CG offers a better launch and control for long irons. TaylorMade strategically positioned the CG lower in order to encourage easy launch conditions. The CG gradually rises in the short irons to help with control, launch and spin.
Cap-Back Design with Toe Wrap Construction TaylorMade’s Cap-Back Design with Toe Wrap Construction combines the benefits of a hollow body iron with the traditional cavity back. The steel badge is replaced with a composite badge that offers greater efficiency. The result is a construction that combines optimal mass properties with clean lines, and has a pleasing sound and feel. It’s similar to the P*770 and P*790 distance irons.
Reengineered HYBRAR echo dampers: These dampers are individually designed for each iron (4-9), and incorporate strategically placed ribbed structure that sits behind the face. The damper aligns each iron face, reducing unwanted vibrations. The Echo Damper also works with a 360-degree undercut and Cap Back Design, as well as a thick-thin topline to maintain a pleasing sound and feel.

HL Irons : HL irons were designed for players who are looking to achieve higher launch angles and clubhead speeds. The loft configurations of Qi HL are about 2-degrees higher than the standard Qi, which contributes to Qi HL achieving increased launch angles. Weight reduction is another feature that sets Qi HL apart. Like-to-like Qi HL irons can be up to 26g lighter. This design element is intended to improve clubhead speed for a particular audience.
TaylorMade’s statement
Matt Bovee is the Director of Product Creation at Irons.
Qi Irons are a fusion between performance and design. They deliver a combination distance and accuracy, with a solid feeling that is not typical of game improvement irons. To make this happen, we rely on an array of technologies. Our ultimate goal is to give golfers straight distances that are superior to the competition.
These irons are a perfect example of TaylorMade’s evolution in game-improvement designs. The irons maintain their high level of forgiveness and simplicity, but are packaged in a sleek design that would be proudly displayed by any golfer. We are able to deliver both forgiveness and distance in a more accurate and consistent package. “All while achieving a bigger sweet spot and a feeling similar to forged irons.”
