GolfWRXers test the accuracy of the Full Swing KIT

Jul, 2023

Four GolfWRX forum participants traveled to The Grand Golf Club in San Diego to test the Full Swing KIT Launch Monitor and see how it compares to other launch monitors. The Full Swing Kit was created by Tiger Woods after he requested a launch monitor that he could rely on at the range, just as he did with his Full Swing simulator at home. The KIT was later given his approval, and he has carried it with him to every tournament since its release.

Watch the video to see if our four WRXers – @zap311,@double or triple? @hatrick11 and @SwingBlues – can give the KIT the same seal of approval as Tiger Woods.

GolfWRX Members on the accuracy of the KIT

Zap311: The Full Swing Team seems to be obsessed with accuracy, especially when it comes the KIT. They talked about how they shipped this product about 18 months ago. And now are on firmware version #20. They stated that they regularly release updates (overnight via wifi) to improve accuracy and performance. It’s great to hear they don’t just “ship it” and move on to the next project. “I think they’re on the right track because I saw almost no differences between the data I collected today when comparing GCQuad to Trackman.”

Double or triple? In some cases, the difference between launch and spin was less than a half degree.

Hatrick11: The differences were statistically insignificant. It’s hard for many people to believe, especially when they consider the price difference, but it was very close between the Full Swing and trackman for both of us.

“Outside the data is really, really accurate.” The KIT worked perfectly all day. I knew my numbers, and this range in particular very well. “I also had some golf balls of very variable quality in the bucket that I hit, and there was only one spin rate throughout the entire session that made me raise my eyebrows.”

SwingBlues “The GolfWRX Full Swing/WRX experience showed Full Swing KIT produced numbers that were the same as GC Quad (GC4), and the Trackman4. Both LMs have a price tag that is higher than KIT. It’s a huge deal to be able to compete with the big boys. Comparing KIT with GC3 seems to me to be more “apples-to-apples”. My own testing confirms what I saw at the Experience. It shows that critical data points such as spin, carry and ball speeds are dead-on or almost dead-on for distances of 40 yards on both GC3 & KIT.”

Full Swing KIT: More Information

Zap311 “The versatility in viewing data is impressive. Depending on the usage, each person has different preferences.” You can view data on your device, smartphone, tablet, smartwatch or monitor. Full Swing is a great app that covers all these devices. The app is available on iOS (android devices are planned in the future). You can view your last shot with the Apple Watch and select a few options. Additionally, you can turn on audio playback for your favorite metrics after each shot. Later, I will post screenshots. On the device, you can choose to display 4 or 1 data points. The app made it easy to customize the top four. I could quickly switch from the launch angle of irons to the swing path for driver.

The KIT is very user-friendly. Once you learn the app and the settings, it’s easy to choose a club, align the target line and shoot. It’s not necessary to use a laser or level to align. KIT uses its built-in camera in the app to show you how to align. In less than one minute, I was able to start up the KIT and place it on the tee for our course trial today. This simplicity makes it more convenient to take to the course…

The Full Swing team has really considered the usability of the KIT. The OLED display of the device can show up to four datapoints. On your iPhone/iPad, you can see 16 data points, a video of the shot and one primary metric. You can also view a primary metric on your Apple Watch. This was my dream as an iOS user. Another feature that I love is the ability to star a shot in order to save it. You can send the shot data and video recording to your coach, if that is what you prefer.”

Double or triple? : “I met the teaching pro on the range that I use for testing – PGA member/teacher Ryan Kolk. His team has four units and uses them for both personal use and to teach their students. Ryan spent some time learning about the FSK, and the differences between the proV1x and the trackman/GC/Foresight. He believes that the FSK is consistent with both models. He prefers to use FSK when testing new shafts and products before using them in the personal bag, which is appreciated by GolfWRX members. FullSwing Kit’s Face to Path and Club Path information is perfect for his more advanced students. They can use it to improve themselves.

Hatrick11: “It is nice to know that I can practice at home and in short bursts of time. With two small children at home, I cannot go to the range often or for long sessions. This will allow me to keep my game in good shape and enjoy the occasional round with my friends. The KIT is a great tool for practice. It’s a lot more useful than the cheap monitors and other “mid-tier” devices like GC3. When I am playing sideways, I tend to come more from the inside out. Face consistency is also a problem, so this leads to the bad left miss. Previously, I had trouble getting the most out of net training because the feelings didn’t always match up with reality. This data and video helps me stay honest. It was great to finally be able to dial in that piece with KIT.”

SwingBlues “One feature that I really like is the ease of viewing each shot’s video.” We went to the video to see that my buddy wasn’t hitting it very well.

The app will show all 16 data points. Below is a sample of one of my Iron Shots. KIT has captured some impressive data. The launch monitor can be set up to show one data point or a grid of four data points, with the golfer choosing which to display.
