Grayson Murray had to withdraw from a PGA Tour tournament in Bermuda seven months ago after he was severely injured by a scooter accident.
Murray was able to lift a trophy in Kansas City for the first six years on Sunday after winning the 2023 AdventHealth Championship in the Korn Ferry Tour. Murray did this despite a double bogey on the 18th hole.
Murray was in a great position following a 64 on the Saturday. He started the round with three birdies in a row, added another birdie at 12, and then accelerated, finishing with birdies. The 15th through 18th rounds.
On Sunday, Murray birdied Nos. Murray birdied Nos. 1, 7, and 10 on Sunday before a eagle at No. 13. He made another birdie at 16 and then parred the 17th. Murray had only one bogey in 71 holes. He stumbled on the par-5 last hole, but still shot a 68. This put him at 19 under.
Murray replied, “It still hasn’t sunk in.” “Six years of drought is far more than I expected. Sometimes the highs and lows can be extreme. It’s an incredibly humbling game. This is the result of my hard work.
“My parents went through hell for six years, and I was fighting mental issues. It’s hard on me and those who love me don’t want to see me suffer. They are my biggest supporters. 1 supporters. It’s nice to share these moments with friends.
Murray won his second Korn Ferry Tour title. Murray won his first PGA Tour title at the 2016 Barbasol Championship.
Murray was in the news for arguing on Twitter with other professionals, especially Kevin Na. Murray had 50 stitches after his scooter accident in Bermuda. He needed 25 stitches for his face, 10 stitches for his leg, and other stitches all over his body.
He said that he might stick with the Korn Ferry Tour until he gets his next win.
Murray said, “It will be interesting to see where I put my focus. I think that maybe the best thing for me would be to stay here and play this tour as there are 30 cards this year instead 25,” he said. “But we’ll see. “I’m going first to enjoy this one.”
