According to a release, Grost will transition to the role as CEO Emeritus and then pursue his passion for golf.

GCAA President Ryan Cabbage stated in a press release that they are grateful to Gregg Grost for his many contributions to the GCAA. The Golf Coaches Association of America and our profession as college coaches are in a great position because of his hard work and dedication. Now that Dustin is our CEO, we look forward to building on the foundation Gregg laid with Dustin. .”

Gregg Grost (GCAA)

Grost became executive director in September of 2000, before becoming CEO. He began his college golf career at McLennan Community College, before graduating TCU. Grost began his coaching career in 1981 as an assistant to Hall of Famer Dan Rogas, at Lamar. Grost led Lamar to three Southland Conference Championships before moving to the University of Oklahoma spring of 1986. He earned the first of two Dave Williams National Coaching of the Year Award. In 1989, Grost led the Sooners in the NCAA championship and won his second National Coaching of the Year Award. In 2005, he was inducted into GCAA Hall of Fame.

During Grost’s tenure, GCAA membership has doubled to more than 850. Under his leadership, the association went from being in debt to a solid financial position. The GCAA, along with the WGCA’s (Women’s Golf Coaches Association), has increased its attendance at the national convention from fewer 150 to more than 340. The Arnold Palmer Cup, which was originally a competition between U.S. college men’s golfers and their counterparts in GB&I, has expanded to include men’s and woman’s college players from all over the world.

Grost stated that he was excited to be able to spend more time with his family and pursue opportunities in the sport, which he had wanted since retiring as a coach. “I’m equally thrilled that the GCAA National Advisory Board chose Dustin Roberts for the CEO role at this time. Since the day he started working for us over 20 years ago he has been a tireless advocate on behalf of all our coaches. He was the perfect person at the ideal time .”

At its national convention in December, the GCAA will celebrate Grost’s tenure and contributions to golf.
