Imagine Tiger Woods and Charlie Woods winning the PNC Championship. Justin Thomas has already done this.

Dec, 2023

ORLANDO: Tiger Woods is not that different from me or you. The father of two and 15-time major champion doesn’t appreciate when his son Charlie stares at the phone constantly.

Put your phone down and look around. It’s something that all parents are concerned about, because most children don’t seem to look up. When asked what his pet peeve was or something Charlie did that irritated him, he replied: “Everyone is looking down.” Look around, the world around you is so beautiful, just look upward. Everyone is glued to their screens, and this is how they view the world. It can drive me crazy because he is always looking down, and yet there are so many beautiful things all around him.

Very relatable.

Tiger Woods has become more relatable after he became a father. Golf fans have seen Charlie, 14, growing up before our very eyes. The PNC Championship is a 36 hole two-person scramble which begins Saturday at the Ritz Carlton Golf Club. He has grown in the last four.

You can see his growth from last year. It’s incredible how much he’s grown and changed. And it’s always a moving goal with him. Tiger said, “He’s grown about four inches in the last year. His swing has evolved and clubs have changed. We kept trying to tweak things and it was a lot fun. It’s challenging, but also fun for him. Things change every two weeks. He’s just growing so quickly.”

Justin Thomas stated that he was leading the tournament by inches. “I don’t have to be as harsh with him anymore, because he is close to beating me.”

Tiger said that Charlie was hitting the ball past him and to be fair, this year he will play one set further back at a distance of 6,576 yard.

Imagine growing up as the child of one of the greatest athletes of all time. Charlie is a golfer who seems to be able handle the inevitable comparisons. Imagine learning the game directly from Tiger. Charlie has mixed feelings about it. Charlie replied, “It’s not very often.” When Will McGee asked him, the 12-year old son of Annika’s Sorenstam if he listened to his father’s advice, Charlie replied, “It’s not very often.” When I’m desperate, yes.

“Sometimes, he doesn’t always see things the same way as I do, which can be fun, but it’s more about knowing how to make the right shot at the right time. All kids need to know when to hit the shot or what to do to make it harder.

It’s so much different to do it at home. But in tournament conditions. It was great to be able share this with him and share my experience with him during game time mode. I believe that we both learned from it. “I think it helped me become a more effective teacher, and he became an even better player as a result.”

Imagine Tiger’s accident as a blessing. He hasn’t been able practice as much with Charlie as he would have liked, but he is home more now and can watch Charlie’s matches at high school and caddie him in junior tournaments. It is a special week for Team Woods as they get to play together in tournament conditions.

Tiger said, “We push one another which is fantastic.” “And the needle’s always out.” You have to be able take the blows if you want to be able give them. It’s been great fun for us both.”

Imagine getting a lesson on how to use a wedge from the legend Lee Trevino. Charlie and Tiger visited Trevino at the end of the range after the pro-am. Trevino was still digging out the dirt from the ground at the age of 84. They laughed and exchanged stories.

Imagine Tiger and Charlie winning the PNC Championship in this week. JT did and he made a guess as to where Tiger would be ranked. “It’d be No. “It would be No.

Thomas said, “Winning majors and seeing how he has won his majors are incredible, but knowing how much he loves Charlie, having Sam here, him doing this together with Charlie, and watching him grow up would be a different kind of victory that maybe doesn’t come with record books, history, or whatnot.” “I know that it would be a terrible thing for us, because they’d really rub our faces with it.”

Imagine this.
