Inbee Park posted on Instagram this week that she was pregnant with her husband Gi Hyeob Nam. Park, 34, was 22nd at the AIG Women’s British Open in Muirfield when she last competed on LPGA.
Park posted on Instagram, “We are thrilled that we will be welcoming new family member to our family.” Park wrote on Instagram, “We are thrilled to announce that we will be welcoming new member of our family,” and thanked everyone for their support.
Park, a seven-time major winner, Olympic medalist, and member of LPGA World Golf Hall of Fame was the first to join the tour in 2007. He has since won 21 LPGA titles.
The LPGA changed its maternity policy in 2019 to allow moms to return to competition two years after the baby was born. Moms who return to the game have the same status as when they entered the season of maternity, and they can compete for 12 months. the same number of tournaments) in order to maintain that status.
The LPGA has updated its maternity policy. All five majors on the LPGA schedule now include maternity clauses. These clauses exempt players from the championship if they qualified for the previous season but didn’t compete because of maternity.
Paula Creamer, Azahara Munoz and Azahara Muniz returned to the LPGA earlier this season after having given birth in 2022. Brittany Lincicome, who had her second child, returned to the Pelican Women’s Championship.
Caroline Masson, Hee Young Park will have their first child in 2023.
