Jack Nicklaus explains what Tiger Woods told Annika Sorenstam about his injured ankle during the Champions Dinner.

May, 2023

Can the kings horses and men reassemble golf’s Humpty Dumpty?

Tiger Woods will be sidelined for an indefinite period of time after undergoing surgery to his right ankle in order to treat post-traumatic osteoarthritis caused by injuries sustained in his single car crash in Los Angeles, in February 2021. Woods withdrawn from the third round, which was delayed due to rain in April this year because he felt discomfort while walking up the steep hills at Augusta National.

Jack Nicklaus’ record of 18 majors looks more secure with each passing day, and Woods’ injuries, Nicklaus said this at a presser before Woods appeared in the Greats of Golf Exhibition on Saturday, during the Insperity Championship, PGA Tour Champions.

Nicklaus started by saying, “I’m not sure what he has been through.”

He continued, “He has shown a lot courage and guts to play and to try to be a part of the goings-on with his way of being.” “He can walk, but he’s not able to swing.”

Nicklaus recalled how he always sits next to Woods during the Champions Dinner of the Masters.

Nicklaus stated, “We speak quite a lot.” “He said that I’m playing really well. I’m hitting it great. My short game is great. My putting is good.

This is the best explanation we’ve heard so far for why Woods decided to undergo surgery again.

Nicklaus stated that “he wouldn’t have the operations if it wasn’t his desire to continue playing,” Nicklaus. “He is a young man who is very dedicated and motivated to continue playing golf.”

Nicklaus said of the 47-year old golfer whose body had been put through the ringer. “The dedicated young don’t last for very long.”

Annika Sorenstam won 72 LPGA titles. She walked away on her terms. Now she is back to play a few celebrity events. These include the U.S. Women’s Open last year and the U.S. Senior Women’s Open which she won in 2020. She is well aware of Woods’ situation.

Sorenstam stated, “I can see it as a fan.” “I think that he is in more pain than what he tells everyone.” I think the situation is much more serious. He is tough. “And so brave.”

Woods’s future is uncertain, but it’s unlikely that he’ll be able to compete in the remaining three majors of this year – PGA Championship in may, U.S. Open June, and British Open July.

Sorenstam stated, “I believe we would all like to watch him play.” “He brings so much to every game he plays.” He adds so much to the tournament, whether he makes it or not.

You don’t want anyone to be in pain. You don’t like to see anyone in pain. In his particular case. Hopefully, this will be his last surgery. It will be good for him. “Who knows?”

Even Woods does not know if Humpty-Dumpty will be able to be put together again at this point.
