Jacob Modleski of Notre Dame, who began the week as a substitute, wins 2024 Jones Cup

Jacob Modleski was not in the field of the Ocean Forest Golf Club 2024 Jones Cup Invitational when the week started. At the end of the week, Jacob Modleski was the one who held the trophy.

He was the only player among the 84 players to finish below par. He won by one stroke over Tennessee sophomore Caleb Surratt who shot the best round of the event Sunday, a 5-under-67. Auburn freshman Jackson Koivun was also in the field.

Nick Gabrelcik of North Florida, who was leading after the first round finished fourth with 2 over. Gordon Sargent is a Vanderbilt junior and the No. The World Amateur Golf Ranking has Gordon Sargent tied for seventh place with 4 over.

The Jones Cup is now the premier amateur event on the calendar and the first one. Justin Thomas, Patrick Reed and Ludvig Aberg are past champions.

Modleski, along with Palmer Jackson, is the second Notre Dame player to win the Jones Cup over the last three years. Modleski receives an exemption to the PGA Tour’s RSM Classic, which takes place in November.
