Japanese amateur wins Dunlop Phoenix beating Hideki Matsuyama and Brooks Koepka. He immediately turns professional

Yuta Sugura, a Japanese amateur, shot 64-686971-71 in order to finish 12 under par and win the Dunlop Phoenix Tournament.

“I’m very happy.” Sugiura said to the Japan Golf Tour, “It was a dream I had for a very long time and I am truly happy that I achieved it in my final match as an amateur.”

Brooks Koepka, 2023 PGA winner, also posted a final round of 2-over 72 to finish T-15 with a 3-under total. Fellow PGA Tour stars Sahith Theegala, 2023 U.S. Open Champion Wyndham, and other PGA Tour stars Sahith Theegala, both had final rounds at even par 71, and 1-under 70, to place T-31, and T-37 respectively.

Suguira immediately declared that he would turn professional after his win.
