Jared Wolfe appears to be testing two “knuckle-neck” putters this week at Korn Ferry’s Nationwide Children’s Championship. The two putters have Odyssey Toulon Chicago heads that have a new neck to reduce toe-hang and get them closer to being face balanced.
This conversion is not difficult for the experienced people at Odyssey. The Chicago head has a shaft that is double bent. The team bent the post so that it was at a 90-degree angle and then installed the L-neck and steel tubing. This neck style allows the player to easily adjust the length of the neck to get the exact amount of toe-hang they desire. It looks like a standard plumbers’ neck from a distance.
The Chicago putter is finished in black with a single line of sight on the flange. This model is also equipped with the Toulon Deep Diamond Mill face, which should provide a softer feel and sound.
The silver-finished putter shifts its site line up to the topline, leaving the flange bare. The face of this putter has a smooth milling pattern, which should provide a more firm feel and crisper sound when struck.
The silver putter has a blue Grasen Ultimate Grip, while the black one is a green version. These putters appear to have steel shafts, not the popular Odyssey Stroke Lab composite graphite and steel shaft.
