The Grant Thornton Invitational will be held in December, as part of Challenge Season.
The event will replace the QBE Shootout and feature a 32 player field, including 16 PGA Tour players and 16 LPGA members, competing for a purse of $4 million. The three-day event, which includes three different playing formats, scrambles, foursomes and modified fourballs, will take place from Dec. 8-10, at Tiburon Golf Club, in Naples, and will be televised on NBC and Golf Channel.
Day, 35, is a native Australian and a 13-time winner of the PGA Tour. Day, a native of Australia, won 13 times on the PGA Tour during the 2022-2023 season. He also had eight top-10 finishes out of 24 events. This included a one stroke victory at May’s AT&T Byron Nelson. Day and his partner Billy Horschel tied for 10th in the QBE Shootout last year.
Ko, 26, is a New Zealander who has won 19 LPGA Tour titles in her career. Last November, Ko won the CME Group Tour Championship in Tiburon by two shots. She won the CME 2014 as well. Ko has 14 top-10 finishes for 2022.
