Jason Day, former No. 1 Jason Day consider joining LIV Golf? Here’s what the Australian had to say

Dec, 2022

NAPLES (Fla.) Jason Day isn’t against golfers leaving the PGA Tour in order to join LIV Golf. Cameron Smith, a fellow Aussie golfer, is also close to him.

But, would Day be willing to join Smith for the tour funded by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund

Day stated that he would definitely say no to the Palm Beach Post during QBE Shootout. “I wouldn’t go as of right now.”

But does this mean that the door is closed forever?

He said, “Who knows what you’ll think in a year?”

Day has been mentioned since Smith, who won The Open on the PGA Tour, was elected captain of LIV Golf’s all Australian team Punch. This led to speculation that Smith could add Day and Adam Scott to his team. In the season-long team competition, Punch, which included Dustin Johnson’s four Aces, Matt Jones, and Wade Ormsby was second.

Greg Norman, the most well-known Australian golfer, is LIV’s CEO. LIV has included a stop in Australia on its 2023 schedule. The LIV team will be playing at Adelaide, South Australia from April 21-23. LIV will rebrand to the LIV Golf League, going from eight events to fourteen.

Day stated that he doesn’t have a deal but, like many golfers, is disappointed by the friction between LIV Golf Tour and the PGA Tour.

“I don’t blame some guys for going because there’s quite a bit of money these guys earn. He said that he understood it. “It just depends on your feelings about major championships. I know it’s up in the air right this moment if they’re going or not. They don’t have any world ranking points.

“It is disappointing that there’s a division on both sides.”

Day, 35, is the winner of 17 professional victories, 12 of which were on the PGA Tour. He reached No. He reached No. 1 in the world a month following his win at the 2015 PGA Championship. Smith and he have not spoken to each other since Smith’s August jump, when he was No. Day claimed that Smith’s departure from the PGA Tour is not the reason Day ranked 2 in the Official World Golf Ranking.

Day stated, “He’s definitely friend, but we haven’t spoken.” “All those guys are my friends. Some friendships were broken between men who were more outspoken.

“I don’t mind the guys going. I wish that the tours could come together. It would be amazing.

Day wishes that the PGA Tour could be held January-August. Then LIV follows.

Day would like to bring together the warring tours by allowing the PGA Tour to control the schedule through the FedEx Cup playoffs. LIV would then include the top 48 players on the PGA Tour in a league that starts in September.

“I believe that it could work, if you are willing to do so. He said that if the golfers do not want to play in fall, they don’t have any obligation to. “I am not disappointed that the guys are leaving. I wish that the tours could join. It would be great.

Last week, Matt Kuchar stated to the Palm Beach Post that he believes that the two leagues will one day align.

He said, “One-hundred%, I believe there is no doubt,”

However, major concessions will be required, as well as settlements of lawsuits, and neither side is willing to compromise right now.

Day and Billy Horschel tied for 10th place in the QBE Shootout. They dropped with a final round 70 which was the only round in 70s for the weekend. They were ranked at 192, 10 shots ahead of winners Tom Hoge & Sahith Theegala.
